—The focus of this 7th grade social studies course is to expose the learner to the geographic, historical, civic and economic features of countries in the Eastern Hemisphere. This knowledge is then compared and contrasted with aspects of that region to those of the United States.
— Students will explore the geography of the eastern hemisphere and understand its role in the history and culture of the region. Students will also survey the region and examine the past and present political and social aspects of the civilization within it. --

Grading System/Grading Scale
— All 7th grade students will be assessed on a 70/30 grade weighting system. This means that 80% of the grade will be derived from assessments such as quizzes, tests, papers, projects, and reports. The remainder of the grade, 20%, will be derived from a combination of class work and participation.
Expectations
—Come prepared to class. That means you have your materials and assignments with you. —Be respectful. That means respect others and the school/classroom/materials, —Keep an open mind. Many topics discussed in class will present a different lifestyle and way of thinking than you are accustomed to. —Put forth your best effort and follow the classroom routine (this will make the entire year much easier). Refer to the school rules outlined in the Student Handbook.
